HDK-Valand is now looking for a technician for the institution's 3D lab/model workshop. You will work alongside another technician in the same technical area and in a larger team of technicians with various specialist competencies.

The 3D lab/model workshop at HDK-Valand supports all programs with access and support for software for 3D modeling, design, and construction, and provides equipment for 3D scanning, 3D printing, CNC milling, laser cutting, as well as modeling tools such as band saws, pillar drills, vacuum formers, hot wire cutters, and industrial ovens.

Responsibilities

You will, together with the workshop manager technician, provide support to students in the 3D lab/model workshop with associated machines and equipment, and the tasks will be divided into technical work, pedagogical work, and supportive work.

Technical work involves commissioning, maintenance, and repairs of machines and equipment, ensuring that the workshop's working environment maintains a high standard by supporting the awareness and adherence to order and safety regulations by those using the workshop.

Pedagogical work involves instructing students in the use of software and maintenance of machines and equipment, and in consultation with the workshop manager technician and course responsible teachers, guiding students in their work with equipment and materials according to applicable safety regulations.

Supportive work includes, for example, material purchases for the workshop and sales of materials to students.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Technical knowledge and skill in operating and guiding in the commissioning of CNC, 3D printers, laser cutters, and 3D scanners
  • Experience and skill in using and supporting 3D programs, primarily Rhino and Blender in the flow between the digital and the material
  • Good knowledge and experience in handling Adobe Illustrator
  • You have the ability to express yourself well in speech and writing in both Swedish and English

Desirable

  • Experience in clay modeling, mold making, and casting for model creation is desirable
  • Completed bachelor's degree in design or art is preferred
  • Pedagogical experience and experience in student support or equivalent is desirable
  • You have good collaboration skills

You have the ability to describe technology and functions in a simple way to people with different backgrounds and needs, even in stressful situations. As you will be part of a team that works closely together, it is important that you have the ability to collaborate and are open to new ideas, without compromising safety or your responsibilities as a public servant. Since safety and working environment are central in all of HDK-Valand's workshops, you are expected to have competence and interest in these tasks.

Great emphasis will be placed on collaboration skills and your ability to become part of the technician team.

Employment

The position is temporary, a special fixed-term employment of 40% of full-time, for 11 months, located at HDK-Valand, Gothenburg. Start date February 1, 2026, or by agreement.
